Tram advertising in Berlin
Firmly anchored in the cityscape, trams are mainly on the road in the east of Berlin. Incidentally, this is also where the world’s first electric streetcar ran in 1881, in the district of Groß-Lichterfelde. Today, the tram network consists of a total of 22 metro lines (nine Metrotram lines and thirteen supplementary lines) which are an important extension to the S-Bahn and U-Bahn networks. Every 10 minutes, the eye-catching transport media roll along Berlin’s streets and connect densely populated districts with the most important hubs in the city center, around the clock, seven days a week, 365 days a year! For tram advertising, this means increased visibility of advertising, especially in the eastern residential areas and urban scene neighborhoods. But also, maximum access to important hotspots such as the Friedrichstrasse train station, Alexanderplatz, Hauptbahnhof (Berlin main train station), Humboldt University and the Adlershof campus.
Tram advertising ensures a large impact, especially in East Berlin. Here, OOH (out of home) also meets a young and educated audience, as many start-ups and IT companies have settled there.
Moving outdoor advertising: combined tram and U-Bahn ticket
In the east of Berlin, the tram is a very popular means of transport, while in the west it is the U-Bahn (subway). To achieve citywide omnipresence with transport media, it is advisable to include both tram and subway advertising in the media plan.
In addition, public transportation, streetcars as well as subways, is organized by the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG). This means that not only passengers benefit from being able to use all forms of public transport with a combined ticket, but also advertisers. Supplementary media can be implemented with minimal motif adjustments, so eye-catching outdoor advertising can be placed as window adhesives in the tram (500 x 150 mm (W × H)) and as side strips in the subway (530 x 95 mm / 690 x 130 mm (W × H)).
Tram advertising: strikingly strong impressions
With tram advertising, OOH is literally in the fast lane, because often this mode of transport has its very own lane. Thus, with maximum visibility, the tram rolls past other road users unimpeded – even during rush hour. If the tram is not in a separate center lane, the rest of the traffic has to wait. The special attention paid to streetcars means that advertising is actively noticed, but the extra length of the individual carriages also makes trams an eye-catching feature of Berlin’s urban traffic. The high frequency of the transport connection and bold advertising motifs promote a strong reach. For permanent advertising, trams and bus advertisements can be chosen between full or partial design. For short-term advertising, the Traffic Board 18/1 format can be booked.
With outdoor advertising on Berlin’s tram network, your advertising message really makes its mark on a piece of contemporary history that has been rolling through Berlin since 1881.
